PUBLIC WORKS COLLECTION PRACTICES
The Public Works Department is dedicated to providing our citizens the best service possible. As part of that effort we would like to ensure that you are aware of the Town’s collection practices as established by Town Ordinance. In the event you have a need for collection services beyond the Town’s normal practices you should call the public works department (704-824-4013) to determine what services are available and to arrange for those services. We would also like to remind you that you should feel free to call the Public Works department or the Town Administrator any time you have questions or concerns regarding public works services.
Garbage is collected once weekly for each customer on the day designated for your address by the public works department. Only regulation garbage containers weighing 100 pounds or less are picked up. No more than 2 cans per customer are collected. Garbage not in the regulation container or on the ground is not picked up. Garbage, refuse and debris should not be left on the ground. Garbage containers should be placed at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on the designated collection day.
Recycling is encouraged, therefore, containers for dropping off cardboard, glass, plastic, and soup cans for recycling are provided behind Town Hall at the intersection of Day Street and Spencer Mountain Road. The Ranlo Volunteer Fire Department provides a trailer for aluminum can recycling beside the Fire Department on Park Drive.
